The Areawide Demonstration Program examines methyl bromide alternatives in the production of loblolly pine seedlings in the southern United States. This project was established to implement an areawide pest management research and action program for methyl bromide alternatives. Overall objectives are to demonstrate and optimize alternatives to MB for management of soil-borne pests in the seedling production systems currently dependent upon MBr for seedling production. The end result is to provide and demonstrate integrated alternatives to MB that contribute to sustained economic competitiveness and result in acceptable environmental impact and worker safety.
